    Cloudcroft New Mexico

    Visit Cloudcroft, New Mexico

When people think of New Mexico they don’t think of mountains and hills, they usually think of desert and dry land. So when I tell you that there’s a mountain village in New Mexico that sits among the clouds, you should be so intrigued to go and check it out for yourself.

Named “The most enchanting part of the Land of Enchantment” Cloudcroft, NM is a 110 year old pioneer village that captures the beauty of history and the beauty of mountain living in a modern world.  The town is visited by thousands every year as they escape from the heat and enjoy the many activities within the city and surrounding areas.  Visitors can golf at one of the highest courses in North America at 9,000 feet above sea level. The Lodge Golf Course takes on Scottish tradition by the way they play different tees and flags on each hole.

Visitors to Cloudcroft can also go mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and fishing.  In the winter months, the mountains offer perfect skiing conditions. Being in New Mexico, the temperatures don’t get as cold as most mountain villages but you can still enjoy all the activities of winter.

This time of year is perfect in Cloudcroft. The fall weather is that of warm temperatures during the day, no humidity, and cool temperatures at night. You don’t get the scorching heat of the summer or the cold days of winter; which is why so many people flock to Cloudcroft for their annual Harvest Fest.

Harvest Fest takes place October 29th this year from 2-5pm.  Bring the whole family for hayrack rides, pumpkin painting and carving, costume contests and the famous pumpkin roll contest. Don’t forget the parade at 3pm!

When you are done with Harvest Fest, relax and stay the night at one of the RV parks in the area.  Scenic Canyon RV Park offers spectacular views and secluded campsites so you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains. There is also Gillespie Ranch with cabins and accommodations for horses, and The Lincoln National Forest for your camping experience.
